Lisa Johansson-Pape Lamps

Lisa Johansson-Pape´s(1907 - 1989) long career in the design of light fixtures and fittings began in 1942. She was one of the charter members of the Finnish Association for Lighting Technology and one of her principles in design for this sector was to make the form of a lamp or light fixture serve technological function. Lisa Johansson-Pape’s works represented Finland in many international exhibitions since the 1930s. At the New York World’s Fair of 1939, she carried out part of the interior design of the Finland department and at the Milan Triennial of 1951 lamps and light fixtures designed by her were awarded a silver medal. They received a gold medal at the 1954 triennial. She was one of the most notable Finnish designers known for her passion for lighting.

All Lisa Johansson-Pape lamps are manufactured in Finland and they charm with their beauty, simplicity and unigue design which allows the light filter through creating beautiful patterns on the surface of the lam. These lamps are true classics of Finnish design.

Finnish Design Classics - Skyflyer & Modern Art

Designer Yki Nummi was born in China 1925 to a missionary family. He studied in Finland and after graduating from University of Art and Design Helsinki, he was hired as a lamp designer for Orno. The Modern Art table lamp, one of his classics, was designed at Orno in 1955. Modern Art represents European designs in the permanent collection of New York MoMA. Skyflier, designed in 1960, was awarded in Milano Triennale in the year of its launch. Skyflyer lamp is one of the best-known designs by Yki Nummi and known in Finland by the name of Lokki (Seagull), it is still very popular.

Danish Design from Nuance

Tired of carafes which can't be put in the dishwasher and ice cubes which are poured out in the first glass? Nuance has now solved these problems! The new Multi-Carafe with screw-off base represents a revolution.

The carafe, which has an attractive, classic design, can be opened both at the bottom and the top. The opening in the bottom makes it possible to fill the carafe with ice cubes, frozen fruit and other cool and exciting ingredients, which makes the full carafe a visual feast.

The opening in the top is designed so that it holds the ice cubes in place, so it keeps the carafe cold. If you remove the bottom and top seals, the carafe can easily be cleaned in a dishwasher.

Harri Koskinen & Kristiina Lassus for Alessi

123dl designed by Harri Koskinen is a set of three glasses intended for all sorts of purposes: drinking/toasting, measuring/cooking, stacking/storing. This a set that could satisfy numerous needs throughout the day: snack, enjoying an espresso or a cappuccino or a cup of tea. Maybe also for an aperitif, using the small glass as a peanut bowl. The three glasses can be used also as measuring cups.

Fat tray designed also by Harri Koskinen is a box container with a lid that acts as a tray. Koskinen says he named this bamboo box a "fat tray" because everything you need to serve coffee or tea can be packed inside while on top, fresh food, beverages or pastries are ready to be served during a business meeting, an afternoon tea, a picnic in the park or even in the office. The space inside the container is equipped with a moveable separator that helps to keep the objects in order to avoid delicate piece from being knocked around.

Adagio is jug with a double-wall insulating body and lid in stainless steel. Adagio is designed by Kristiina Lassus as a continuation of her “401” tea and coffee set (2008). It meets all of the functional requirements of the hotel industry, but thanks to its soft and plumb shape it’s also proposed for private use.

Primavera collection was born from Iittala´s and Marimekko´s collaboration. The serie was launched 2003 and returns to re-production as it has been desired by many Iittala´s clients. The fresh decoration of the collection is the Primavera pattern that was designed by Maija Isola for Marimekko in 1974. Primavera collection is available until 31.08.2010.

Iittala's Kastehelmi "Dew Drop" glass bowl is classic and fresh. The surface of Kastehelmi glass has been made of different sized pearl rings which rhythmically grow away from the central point. Kastehelmi’s surface pearls sparkle in all spectrum colours like a water drop in summer mornings. This collection can be combined with every object Iittala produces and sits comfortably in any scenario. Iittala reintroduced Kastehelmi to celebrate Oiva Toikka's 50 year career as a designer. Kastehelmi (Dew Drop) pattern was originally in production from 1964-1988.
