Pino, Helsinki

I often come across some amazing shops and this time I would like to introduce you to Pino in Helsinki,Finland. Pino is a market place for unique, functional and innovative design objects situated in Helsinki. The design and branding concept, created by local-based creative agency Bond, is taken from the name – ‘Pino’ literally meaning a pile or stack.

All the fixtures in the store are constructed out of pinewood planks finished with a glossy grey paint – working as a background for the store’s fresh and colourful products. Because of the various product sizes the timber shelving system was designed to have lots of different dimensions, attempting to simulate the piles and stacks with different heights, creating an interesting silhouette. The flooring is the actual original tiles from the early 1900’s building, discovered hidden under some 1960’s linoleum surfacing.

Here are 3 good reasons to go there if you happen to be in Helsinki:

Moomins..

I´ve been always a huge fan of Moomins and they have played a big part in my childhood so it is obvious that we sell also many Moomin products in Artic Design. If you wan't to know, my favourite character is Little My, maybe because I´m small too :). Which one is your favourite?

We just got new shipment full of pretty Moomin duvets, including this double duvet cover below. It is a new one so of course I had to take one at home right away. I hope you like them too!

Preparing..

Yes I know, Christmas is still two months away! However, it is never too early to start preparing. At Artic Design, we are working very hard at finding new products to offer our customers this holiday season and we would like to share a little taste with you. These traditional Finnish candle decorations arrived in stock today so we have been busy unpacking this morning!

Perfect coffee table

If I would have to choose the most difficult furniture - in the sense of buying, it could be the coffee table. I'm thinking that we're doing fine also without one, but with all honesty I would not mind lifting my legs on a table. If I´d have the time to sit on the couch I mean :).

When I saw the new Tablo table from Normann Copenhagen, I thought I might have to change my mind and say yes! What do you say, yes or no?

Peter & Paul

Hello, it has been a while since our last post but now we are back blogging!

This time we would like to introduce you to Peter & Paul who are flying towards our stock from the UK.

Peter & Paul are 2 cute metal clips inspired by the birds perched on the telegraph wire. Peter & Paul Bird clips are an original way to clip bags and packets, use as clothes pegs, display pictures or as decorations, and make a great gift or stocking filler.

These cute birds are made by Green and Blue, a small product design company located on the north Cornish coast. The studio and workshop sees design, prototyping and fabrication take place under one roof. Green and Blue are driven by their desire to realise ideas and create unique, simple and beautiful products that are not only functional but challenge expectations and compliment the environment.
